GET THE BLESSING

BBC Jazz award winning "genre-bending" Bristolians Get The Blessing are a four piece Jazz-Rock collective made up of Jim Barr (bass) Clive Deamer (Drums) Pete Judge (Trumpet) and Jake McMurchie (Saxophone). Jim Barr and Clive Deamer may be familiar thanks to their roles in legendary 90s Trip-hop band Portishead. Get The Blessing's distinctive sound, described by BBC Music Magazine as "Gloriously powerful" and by David Sinclar of The Times as "startling and seamless", is down to their pathological distrust of chords and free improvisational style. Their music is influenced by the work of Ornette Coleman but also plays tribute to the bands dance background and incorporates ska and rock. Their critically acclaimed and award winning debut album "All is Yes" earned them spots on some of the UK's largest festivals including Glastonbury and The Big Chill and the bands success continues to grown as fans eagerly await the second album due for release in Spring 2009.
